Short answer

Yes, a VPN normally hides your IP address from websites. But a VPN does not automatically make you fully anonymous.

What websites see

When the VPN is active, traffic goes through the VPN provider’s server. The website sees the VPN server’s IP address and location, not your normal public IP.

What the VPN provider sees

The VPN provider can see that you connect to the VPN service. Depending on technology and policy, the provider may also see traffic metadata. Choose a provider you trust.

What VPN does not solve

Cookies, logins, browser fingerprints and account data can still identify you. VPN is a privacy tool, not a guarantee of anonymity.

Common questions

Can I check if my VPN works?

Yes. Start the VPN and reload VisaIP. The IP address and location should change.

Does VPN hide my IP from my internet provider?

Your provider sees that you connect to the VPN server, but normally not the websites inside the encrypted tunnel.
